Dave’s Story:
Dave Schaub loves anything with tires and a motor. This started at an early age when Schaub’s father, Fred took him to the car races. Fred was a dry lakes racer in the 1930’s in southern California. He taught Dave to ride motorcycles and work on cars. In 1971 Dave bought a 1931 Ford sedan that would be the first of many hot rods he would own and drive. All of Dave’s cars are well-maintained, high mileage drivers. He has been known to hop in one of his street rods and take off across the country alone.
Dave loves the solitude of the open road with its sights, smells and sounds. He says it gives him time to think and reflect without the distractions of everyday life. Armed with planning skills, he put them to use in organizing cross-country hot rod cruises for over 10 yrs.
A man of many interests, he is an avid woodsman and a student of native skills. Dave also enjoys singing, composing songs, and playing guitars and Native American flutes. Dave is a big collector of all things relating to cars, and racing. He also collects vintage tobacco pipes, custom made knives, walking stick and watches.
In his free time you’ll find him in his garage, in his chair with his laptop, or on a 10-mile walk he does three times a week. At his business of 20 years, Schaub’s Meat, Fish and Poultry, Schaub continues his family’s four-generation tradition of supplying high quality service and products.
Dave has the support of his wife of 31 years, Carol, Daughter Danell, Son-in-Law Chris and his two Granddaughters Diana, age 13 and Jessica age 7.
